A couple of ADDED PICTURES from Skagway......

This is one of the oldest bridges of its type in the world....dates back to the late 1890's.  It was quite impressive.  However, fortunately, it is not used today.  Not sure it would hold a train up at this point in time.

AND......I bought a couple of RUSSIAN STACKING DOLLS from a Russian shop in Skagway!  I guess I had never realized that ALASKA belonged to RUSSIA until we, the US, bought her back in 1867.  She became the 49th STATE in 1959!!!  No wonder they have a Russian influence still in Alaska.  I even spoke a few Russian words to the store clerk....who was Russian!  That was fun.

  1. BTW--Skagway was my favorite next to the state capitol. I loved the old and original architecture all about town!
