LABOR DAY WEEKEND.....
We started our HOLIDAY WEEKEND off by working our regular shift at the Temple on Friday. Remember the earthquake damage done about 10 days previously? Well.....today was the beginning of the repair work to the temple.
Large CRANES were brought in and put at the base of the temple. They will cascade to about 300 feet above ground in order to reach the tippy-top of the temple spires.
We are told that they will remain in this position for about 2 months.....taking about that long to do all of the repairs and check for other damage while up there.
This is NOT a quick fix or a cheap one either. But very necessary.
FRIDAY NIGHT we went to the BRUNSWICK HIGH SCHOOL football game so we could see the band perform at halftime. Tim plays the snare drum. They did a great job.
The band is much smaller in size than when our kids were attending BHS and participating in the band. Being there brought back great memories.
The HOME bleachers have now been moved to the OTHER SIDE of the field...we now face the setting sun. That was very pretty as we watched it go down.....
While we were in Finland on our first mission, we participated in an ATHLETIC BOOSTER fundraiser....they were selling bricks. We bought one.......pictured above. Turned out nice I thought!
SATURDAY, September 3rd was a very special day......KRISTYN MARIE ALLGAIER was baptized! She was so excited to take this HUGE step. As we were so excited that we were actually home and able to attend. Nice family picture before the service was to begin!
Tyler, the BIG BROTHER, was asked to do the baptism. He felt that a real honor for him. This was a great opportunity in preparation for his mission in a year and a half!
Have no fear.....the day was PACKED with lots of family activity! Saturday afternoon was a BRUNSWICK POTOMAC STREET MILE RUN! This has become a tradition for the family to participate in.
Truly as we walked out the door to head down to the event, we had planned on CHEERING the kids and grandkids on.....BUT.....Wayne decided we should participate in the FUN RUN......for those who wanted to participate but not try for a trophy....run, walk, run, walk.....you get the idea. We ended up being with Casey Ulig and their little girl most of the way.
Elinn ran in the Elementary age group with Matthew.....he even got a trophy 'pin'! He did great.
Steven and Tim ran in the High School - Adult group. Steven came in 3rd overall for his age group. ALL of Steven and Elinn's kids ran in the race.....as did a large group from our ward. It was a great afternoon activity.
And we ended the day with the last MOVIES IN THE PARK of the season.....TOY STORY 3!!! WOW...that movie season went fast.
